Csayni needs to see the good in Little 500

Poor Matt Csanyi. I could write an angry letter blasting him for trying to characterize Little 500 as a negative, useless tradition ("Little 500: The stupidest IU tradition," March 28). I will instead send my pity to him, for he clearly doesn't get it, and I fear he never will. \nFor those of us who know what "it" is all about, we will tell you that participating in Little 500 is truly a valuable experience and teaches all the important lessons of achieving success in life. (Isn't that what college is supposed to be about?) For example: goal setting, dedication, team building, hard work, confidence, communication skills, organizational skills, healthy eating habits, self worth, humility, appreciation/respect for others, camaraderie, commitment to excellence and pushing yourself farther than you thought possible. \nI could go on, but I believe I've made my point. Granted, Csanyi makes one good point that some people do get a bit excessive with overindulence, and unfortunately certain isolated incidents put a negative spin on things for some. But as in nearly every occasion in life, we must always accept the bad with the good. Yet another lesson learned from the weekend that is Little 500. Besides, a bit of overindulgence, balanced well in the life of a college student is all part of the experience. \nSo, I guess Csanyi does not make a single good point after all. To all riders of this year's race, and those to come -- you are the fortunate few who know what it is all about, savor the moment. And appreciate the fact that the lessons you will learn from having dedicated yourself to Little 500, will carry you far. There are many former riders that will tell you, that successes achieved in life beyond IU can be directly linked to being involved in Little 5. To poor Matt Csanyi, may you one day understand what Little Five is really all about. \nTo the Cutters of 2001: You rock!
