Asian-American journalist to lecture at Ernie Pyle Hall\nAward-winning journalist Helen Zia is lecturing to the University community at 4 p.m. April 11 in the Pulliam Auditorium of Ernie Pyle Hall. \nZia is a contributing editor to Ms. Magazine and the featured speaker for Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, celebrated at IU throughout April.\nThe journalist was named 1998 Chinese-American Journalist of the Year by the Organization of Chinese Americans. Zia's articles have appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post and San Francisco Chronicle.\nZia is a social justice activist on issues ranging from civil rights and peace to women's rights and countering hate violence. \nAfter Zia's lecture, there will be a reception at the IU Asian Culture Center, 807 E. 10th St.\nPi Beta Phi, Delta Upsilon to begin annual Kiss Off contest to raise funds for philanthropy\nThe Pi Beta Phi sorority and Delta Upsilon fraternity's Kiss Off contest begins today at 6 p.m. at the Delta Upsilon house, 1200 E. Third St.\nThe two greek houses sold tickets at $5 each to benefit the Rise, a branch of the Middle Way House. \nTwenty-four finalists were drawn from the tickets sold, and they will compete for the 2001 red Jeep Wrangler SE by kissing the car for as long as they can. One of the finalists is an automatic entry because he or she was the high bidder in ticket sales. Ten runners-up were also drawn, in case some of the 24 winners do not show up.\nLast year, the Kiss Off lasted 31 hours until then-sophomore Jeffrey Browne won the Jeep.\nTeter Quad residents to honor late freshman with memorial service at Showalter Fountain\nFreshman Jamie Epstein, who died in a car accident on her way to New York during spring break, will be memorialized by her Teter Quad floormates at 8 p.m. Sunday at Showalter Fountain. \nClassmates or friends of Epstein are welcome to attend the service to honor her.
