Students in the spring semester of X333, "Managing Business Functions," which is part of the Liberal Arts and Management Program, decided to do more with their semester than take tests and study. \nInstead, they committed themselves to raising money for Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. Through a series of projects, the LAMP students are working to make a difference for the children at Riley. The culmination of their efforts is a 5K-run/walk to take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at the IU cross-country course. \n"As a team, we all came together to plan the event," said organizer Alexandra Sintz, a junior. \nRegistration for the run/walk is $10 and all proceeds benefit Riley Hospital. The students collected several prizes for participants in the event. \n"The first 150 people to register will receive a free t-shirt," said class member Brooke Hensley-Marschand, a senior. "The male and female winners will both receive a PlayStation video game."\nParticipants also are entered in a raffle sponsored by IU Outdoor Adventures in which a skydiving trip is the grand prize. Class members received several other prize donations from local businesses. \n"Anyone who would like more information can visit our Web site for registration information and directions to the run," Sintz said.\nLAMP student Brian Kanowsky runs the Web site, www.indiana.edu/~forriley, which contains links to information about IU Outdoor Adventures, Riley Hospital and the LAMP program. According to the site, tickets and information are available at the Student Recreational Sports Center, the Health, Physical Education and Recreation building and the first floor activities desk at the Indiana Memorial Union.
