IU will hold its annual Founder's Day ceremony 2 p.m. March 4 at Assembly Hall. \nFifteen professors and an associate instructor will be recognized for their outstanding teaching, research or service to the University. The award recipients are from all of IU's campuses.\nThe following faculty will receive awards:\n• President's Award -- Jay Howard, associate professor of sociology and assistant dean for budget and planning at IU-Purdue University at Fort Wayne; Patrick Ashton, associate professor of sociology at IPFW; Charles P. Gallmeier, associate professor of sociology at IU-Northwest, and Suzanne Konzelmann, associate professor of economics at IU- South Bend.\n• Frederic Bachman Lieber Memorial Award -- Sharon Sims, associate professor of nursing at IU-Purdue University Indianapolis.\n• Herman Frederic Lieber Award -- Robin Morgan, professor of psychology at IU-Southeast.\n• Sylvia E. Bowman Award -- Mary Fell, associate professor of English at IU-East.\n• Wilbert Hites Mentoring Award -- Brian Powell, director of graduate studies and sociology professor.\n• W. George Pinnell Award for Outstanding Service -- Susan Eklund, professor of education and assistant dean of faculties.\n• John W. Ryan Award for Distinguished Contributions to International Programs and Studies -- Richard A. Fredland, professor of political science and adjunct professor of environments for health/nursing at IUPUI and Lawrence Davidson, co-director of the Global Business Information Network, co-chairman of the Global Experience Program in the Kelley School of Business and professor of business economics and public policy.\n• Distinguished professorships -- Giorgio Tozzi, music professor; Robert Harris, chairman of the Department of Biochemistry and professor of biochemistry in the School of Medicine, and Victoria Champion, professor of nursing and associate dean for research and director of clinical research in the School of Nursing.\n• Lieber Memorial Teaching Associate Award -- IDS food columnist Camilla Saulsbury, doctoral student in sociology.\n• Thomas Ehrlich Award of Service -- Cathy Foos, associate professor of philosophy at IU-East.\nCertificates for students who have earned academic honors will be distributed following the ceremony at a reception in the John Mellencamp Pavilion.\nKelley program holds conference to focus\non global e-business\nIU's Global Business Information Network, a center within the Kelley School of Business, will hold a conference March 8 for businesses interested in learning about e-commerce.\nThe conference, "Global E-business: Getting It Done," will be 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Sagamore Ballroom of the Indiana Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis.\nThe conference will feature the following speakers: Todd Spencer, e-commerce principal for the U.S. Central Region of IBM Global Services; David Williams Russell, a partner in the Indianapolis law firm of Bose, McKinney and Evans; Bradley Wheeler, associate professor of information systems in the Kelley School of Business and Alan Amling, director of electronic commerce for United Parcel Service.\nFor more information, contact Beth Quevli at 855-6338 or visit GBIN's Web site, www.gbin.org.
