Assistant coach named to wrestling team\nThe athletic department announced Mike Mena, a four-time All-American wrestler at Iowa, as an assistant wrestling coach Tuesday.\nMena comes to IU after spending the last three years training in international freestyle wrestling with the Hawkeye Wrestling Club, coached by the legendary Dan Gable. Mena also ran his own wrestling school where he coached state and national champions.\n"I am pleased to have someone of Mena's experience and intensity to join our staff," head coach Duane Goldman said. "His competitive and coaching background will benefit the team."\nMena graduated from the University of Iowa in 1997 with a bachelor's degree in art. At Iowa, he finished second at the NCAA Championship in 1997, won a Big Ten title in 1995 and placed second in 1996 and 1997 at the Big Ten championships.\nBaseball team set for Red and White Weekend\nThe baseball team will complete its fall practice season with the annual Red and White games this weekend.\nTimes for the games are: 3 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday. All games will be played at Sembower Field.\nSenior pitcher David Ferris, senior pitcher Nick Otte and senior infielder Dan Haegele have been named captains for the Red Team, while senior pitcher Quinn Moore, senior catcher Rob Stastny and senior outfielder Blake St. Clair are captains for the White Team.\nAll games are open to the public and admission is free.\nChiefs release former IU football player\nThe Kansas City Chiefs released kicker Pete Stoyanovich Wednesday. At IU, Stoyanovich played for the football team in 1985-88 and the men's soccer team in 1985-87. Stoyanovich played for the Miami Dolphins in 1989-95 and for the Chiefs since 1996.\nGuyton scores 6 points in Bulls preseason game\nA.J. Guyton, an IU basketball player in 1996-99, scored six points in 15 minutes for the Chicago Bulls in a preseason games against the New York Knicks Tuesday. He made three of six field goal attempts and had two assists. \nThe Bulls lost 96-91, as Latrell Sprewell led the Knicks with 21 points. Ron Mercer led the Bulls with 17 points.
