Going wild

Hoosiers hope to down Wildcats in Lexington

Who can put it in or kick a field goal or whatever. It's always been an exciting game and the only time since I've been here that it hasn't been a close game was before Randle El was there."\nIU: Cam Cameron\nCareer Record: Fourth season, 10-24\nAlma mater: Indiana, 1983 (business major)\nCameron on Kentucky: "One thing that you got to be careful is you don't fall in the trap and get caught up in all that passing, they will run the ball right down your throat. They did that to us early last year, that became the issue last year ' their ability to run the football on us early. Their system is one that what the defense gives them, if you give them the run, they are going to take the run. "\nPlayers to watch\nKentucky Wildcats\nFor the second week in a row, IU will face red-shirt quarterback, freshman Jared Lorenzen. Lorenzen is first in the nation for points accounted for with 44. Overall, Lorenzen is 52-91 passing for 704 yards and six touchdowns in his first two games at the collegiate level. He will try to take advantage of IU's shaky secondary. \nSenior defensive end Matt Layow will need to step up his play in an attempt to replace fellow defensive lineman, junior Dennis Johnson, who is out with a sprained ankle. Layow has broken through this year, tallying five tackles for losses and three sacks.\nIndiana Hoosiers\nSenior receiver Jerry Dorsey continued to provide a deep threat for the Hoosiers last weekend with a 57-yard touchdown reception in the loss to the Wolfpack. Dorsey, along with senior receiver Versie Gaddis, will need to extend the Wildcat defense in order to give Antwaan Randle El and the rest of the offense room to operate.\nJunior defensive end Kemp Rasmussen had one tackle last Saturday and it happened to be a sack. As a team, the Hoosiers got to the quarterback three times. Rasmussen and the defensive line need to keep pressure on the quarterback throughout the game if they are to have a chance to win in the end.\nScouting report\nIU: After last weekend's disappointing loss to North Carolina State, one thing has become evident. The Hoosier offense will need to score on every possession to win. IU's defense needs to have a great performance against an offense that has been prone to excelling in the Southeastern Conference.\nKentucky: The Wildcats are coming off a 27-9 win against South Florida last week. Redshirt freshman quarterback Jared Lorenzen has been compared to Cleveland Browns quarterback Tim Couch. With a steady defense keeping teams in check, the Wildcat offense can be deadly either through the air or with a trio of solid running backs.\n2000 Schedule\nSept. 9 vs. North Carolina State \nL 38-41\nSept. 16 at Kentucky\nSept. 23 vs. Cincinnati\nSept. 30 vs. Iowa\nOct. 7 at Northwestern\nOct. 14 at Michigan\nOct. 21 vs. Minnesota - Homecoming game\nOct. 28 vs. Penn State in Indianapolis RCA Dome\nNov. 4 at Illinois\nNov. 11 vs. Wisconsin - Parents Weekend\nNov. 18 at Purdue\nNext game\nvs. Cincinnati\nTime: 1 p.m.\nWhen: Sept. 23\nWhere: Memorial Stadium, Bloomington
