IU Cinema to host Slapsticon silent film festival

Christel Schmidt, who has been awarded two fellowships from the National Endowment of the Humanities, will speak about iconic silent film actress Mary Pickford at 3 p.m. Thursday at the IU Cinema.
On Feb. 28, the Cinema will screen “Sun City Picture House” (2010) and “Baseball in the Time of Cholera” (2011). At 3 p.m. on March 1, the directors will present a lecture on their experiences during filmmaking.
The first two films from his “IT” trilogy, “It is Fine! EVERYTHING IS FINE” and “What is It?”, will begin at 7 p.m. each night.
