7th annual Kiwanis Club of South Central Indiana Balloon Fest

Hot air balloons decorated the sky during the 7th annual Kiwanis Club of South Central Indiana Balloon Fest from Sept. 6-8, 2019. During the festival, spectators could look at hot air balloons of all shapes and sizes, giant kites, skydivers, and other forms of entertainment.

Bloomington Community Farmers’ Market returns after shutdown

Claims were brought to Bloomington's attention that Sarah Dye and Douglas Mackey of Schooner Creek Farm had ties to the white nationalist group Identity Evropa. A two-week closure of the Bloomington Farmers' Market followed. The market reopened Saturday after being shut down for two weeks. Read more here.

Family and friends welcomed home 46 deCycles riders at 4 p.m. Sunday from a 25 day-long trip from Arizona to Montana. People brought posters to celebrate the riders in front of the Monroe County Courthouse.

GALLERY: "Lights for Liberty: A Vigil to End Human Detention Camps"

People gathered together to bring attention to the topic of human detention centers in the United States during "Lights for Liberty: A Vigil to End Human Detention Camps" on July 12 in front of the Monroe County Courthouse. "Lights for Liberty" took place at 9 p.m. around the world. The Bloomington event began at 7 p.m. with the candlelight vigil starting at 9 p.m. Community leaders, students, an immigration lawyer and more spoke in support of ending detention centers.

Tension at the Bloomington Farmer's Market

During the market season, people rise at the crack of dawn, grab their reusable bags and head downtown to stock up on bright red tomatoes, rainbow-colored carrots and crisp green beans. The Bloomington Farmers’ Market has been a touchstone of the community for years. But recently it’s become the center of a fierce debate about white supremacy and freedom of speech. On June 4, IU Ph.D. student Abby Ang submitted a letter with more than 200 co-signers demanding the removal of a vendor named Schooner Creek Farm from the Bloomington Farmers’ Market. The letter claimed owners of the farm, Sarah Dye and Douglas Mackey, are members of Identity Evropa, a white nationalist group. South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg spoke at IU Auditorium on June 11

South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg spoke June 11 at the IU Auditorium. His speech began at 11 a.m. and lasted around an hour. Buttigieg gave remarks regarding topics such as foreign policy and national security. “The world needs America to be the best its ever been,” he said. After the speech concluded, Buttigieg spoke to reporters outside of the auditorium.
