The last I heard from Albuquerque duo A Hawk and a Hacksaw, they were warming up a sold-out IU Auditorium crowd around Little 500 time in April 2009 with an opening set for Wilco. Since then, they've released two critically well-received albums: 2009's Delivrance and this year's Cervantine. With an accordion-heavy, European folk-influenced sound often likened to that of Beirut (member Jeremy Barnes, formerly of Neutral Milk Hotel, worked on some of their early albums), they offer a worldly brand of live performance incomparable to probably anything you'll find at The Bishop this year. Tomorrow night, they'll share the bill there with Minneapolis chamber folkies Dark Dark Dark and Chicago trio Pillars & Tongues.
