On Monday, the Collegiate Baseball newspaper released its Louisville Slugger Preseason All-American selections and four Hoosiers made the cut. Catcher Kyle Schwarber and third baseman Dustin DeMuth made the first team, first baseman Sam Travis earned second team honors and left-handed pitcher Joey DeNato made the third team.

Schwarber led the Hoosiers with 18 home runs last season while hitting .366 and knocking in 54 runs. DeMuth had a .377 batting average and hit a team-high 24 doubles.

Travis batted .316, hit 10 home runs and drove in 57 runs. DeNato had a 10-2 record and a 2.52 ERA last season.

Only Oregon State, who eliminated IU from the College World Series in June, had more players selected. The Beavers had five players chosen among the three Preseason All-American teams.

The Hoosiers kick off the season on Feb. 14 in Lubbock, Tex. for a four-game series against Texas Tech.
