Search for IUPUI executive vice chancellor begins

A national search for the position of IU-Purdue University Indianapolis executive vice chancellor and chief academic officer has begun.

As both chief academic officer and chief operating officer of the campus, the executive vice chancellor and chief academic officer plays a role in the development and implementation of the campus’ academic plans, according to an
IUPUI press release.

The executive vice chancellor and chief academic officer also plays a role in the recruitment and advancement of the campus’ faculty, according to the
release.

The executive vice chancellor and chief academic officer reports to the chancellor and serves as chief executive officer in the
chancellor’s absence.

The position was filled on a one-year interim basis by Kathy Johnson after Nasser Paydar left the position in August to take the position of chancellor — IUPUI’s fifth — according to the release.

“We are committed to conducting a thorough and comprehensive national search to ensure a diverse, highly accomplished pool of candidates,” Paydar said in the release. “The visionary leader selected for this position will be expected to help build upon the campus’ national recognition as a ‘best national university’ as well as its reputation as one of the best institutions in the country for its commitment to undergraduate teaching.”

The search committee is chaired by Michael Patchner, dean of IUPUI’s School of Social Work, according to the release. Committee members also include IUPUI faculty, staff, student and alumni representatives, and Purdue University representatives and community members.
