Obama stumps in Indy

Barack Obama speaks to a crowd at the Indiana State Fairgrounds on Wednesday in Indianapolis.

INDIANAPOLIS – Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama stumped Wednesday afternoon in Indianapolis, less than a day after his debate with Republican nominee John McCain.

Obama spoke about the economy and used recent financial problems to emphasize his message of unity in front thousands of supporters at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.

“If we learned anything from this economic crisis, it’s that we’re all connected,” said the Illinois senator. “We’re all in this together. We will rise or fall as one nation, as one people.”

Obama said the bailout plan that passed Congress last week was only the beginning of steps that need to be taken.

“Now we need a plan to rescue the middle class,” he said.

He said that an Obama administration would reaffirm basic American values.

“The dream that so many generations have fought for feels like it’s slowly slipping away,” he said.

Obama spoke about issues that affect every-day people and wanted to give them a new message of hope.

“I’m here today to tell you that there are better days ahead,” he said. “I know these times are tough, and I know many of you are anxious about the future, but this isn’t the time to fear or quit. This is the time for resolve and steady leadership.”
