I honestly walked into "A Cinderella Story" with a secret hope that Hilary Duff might surprise me. After all, I had gone to "Mean Girls" expecting to hate Lindsay Lohan (Hilary's teenybopper arch nemesis), and it ended up a pleasant surprise. What was stopping "A Cinderella Story" from being the same way?

9-11 commission to release final report today

The National Commission on Terrorist Attacks upon the United States published the comprehensive findings of its 20-month investigation into the Sept. 11 attacks and the government's failure to prevent them today. The 10-member panel, headed by Chairman Thomas Kean, former governor of New Jersey, examined the response of government agencies and emergency response workers to the attacks and has made recommendations to prevent the occurrence of other attacks against the United States.

File-sharing lawsuits settled

This week the Recording Industry Association of America settled lawsuits against three IU computer users who allegedly downloaded music illegally. The lawsuits were agreed upon only four months after being filed in March. RIAA spokesman Jonathan Lamy said such quick resolutions are common. "We are very eager to settle out of court," Lamy said. "The objective is not to win a lawsuit but to turn people to legitimate downloading."
