IUSA Congress: The last hoorah of a failed institution

On Tuesday, the IU Student Association Congress voted unanimously (this seems to be how they vote on everything) to not impeach an executive, Chief of Staff Neil Kelty, who openly admits to having funneled IUSA funds through his private company to repay a personal debt owed to him by another executive.

Members of the boycotting House Democrats — who have been holed up in Urbana, Ill., since Feb. 22 — may soon travel back to the Indiana Statehouse to participate in a labor union rally Thursday, said the leader of the boycott.

IUSA Congress votes against Kelty impeachment

Congress voted 31-0 to keep Niel Kelty in public office after Resolution No. 10-11-27 was presented to the floor Tuesday. The resolution proposed Kelty’s impeachment, accusing him of violating IUSA bylaws by unethically handling IUSA finances and student funds.

Protesters gather in support of Planned Parenthood

On Feb. 18, the U.S. House of Representatives approved an amendment to the federal budget proposed by Rep. Mike Pence, R-Ind. If passed by the Senate it would cut all federal funding for Planned Parenthood. This amendment could prevent people from receiving reproductive health care such as birth control, cancer screenings and HIV testing.

Pedestrian struck at 10th and Fee

IU police failed to find the driver and vehicle that struck a pedestrian Tuesday at the intersection of 10th Street and Fee Lane, according to IU Police Department Chief Keith Cash.
