IU hopes for Big Ten win

It has been almost 12 years to the day since IU’s football team won a Big Ten opener. On Saturday, the Hoosiers (2-1) will attempt to end that streak as they travel to Evanston, Ill., to take on the Northwestern Wildcats (4-0).

The No. 8 Fighting Irish found their redemption following a 1-0 Hoosier loss. Despite the normally successful second-half efforts from No. 11 Indiana, the team was unable to find the net following a header goal on a restart from Grant Van De Casteele.

At the end of the opening round, IU’s five-man team carded a 298, which put them in a fourth-place tie with Tennessee. Northwestern, Coastal Carolina and Michigan State recorded lower scores.
