Rowing program adds 3 new assistant coaches for 2008-09

When the IU rowing team ended their season on May 18 after a 14th place finish out of 22 teams at the Aramark Central/South Region Sprints IU coach Steve Peterson said the team did a good job but thought they could have done better.

Crimson and Gold Cup ends in 1st-ever tie

When Austin Starr kicked a field goal to capture the Old Oaken Bucket, the Hoosiers tied Purdue in points for the Crimson and Gold Cup, a head-to-head series that pits the two Indiana schools against one another in athletic competition. Six months and 17 contests later, the tie stands.

Kellen Lewis reinstated

Junior quarterback Kellen Lewis will be reinstated and will report with the team when training camp opens August 4, said IU head football coach Bill Lynch in a press release Monday

Overton qualifies for British Open

During his tenure as a Hoosier golfer Jeff Overton made his share of birdies at the IU Golf Course east of campus off State Road 45/46. Now, Overton will take his swings thousands of miles overseas to compete in the 2008 British Open after qualifying by winning The Players Championship at Michigan.

Campillo’s sizzling summer continues

As if a second place finish at the NCAA Championships and a final round appearance at the British Amateur Championships weren’t enough, senior Jorge Campillo added another trophy to his mantel June 27 when he helped lead Team Europe to a Palmer Cup victory over the United States in Glasgow, Scotland.



10-time Hooosier all-American Aarik Wilson finishes off a jump at the 2005 Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Sacramento, Calif., where he finished 3rd. While at IU, Wilson won an NCAA title in the Long Jump and Triple Jump during the 2005 NCAA Indoor Championships and will aim to earn a spot on the U.S. Track and Field Olympic Team this weekend.

FALLON, Nev. — Aarik Wilson, a 10-time all-American in track at Indiana, is on the verge of achieving his lifelong dream. Wilson will attempt to qualify for the Summer Olympics in Beijing when he competes this weekend in the U.S. Olympic trials at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
