Boxing like it ought to be

IU raises ticket prices

The IU Athletics Department has decided to raise non-student ticket prices for football games to offset financial troubles that have plagued the department since the departure of former athletics director Michael McNeely in November of 2002. Last year, the athletics department had a $3.2 million debt, and the IU athletics ticket manager Mike Roberts told The Associated Press the price changes are to combat this deficit.

Straw house to be constructed in Bloomington

The construction of the first ever straw bale house in Bloomington is being postponed from June 15 to Sept. 13. The straw house is a Habitat for Humanity project and is being co-sponsored by Bloomingfoods, the Center for Sustainable Living and Harmony School.

Herbert to take over Bepko's interim role

Blues festival begins with first concert Saturday

Saturday afternoon the Bloomington Blues Festival kicked off at 4 p.m. with the first band, Gordan Bonham. The crowd, made up of frolicking young kids doing cartwheels, dancers, long-time blues fans and people out walking their dogs, collected around the stage in Bryan Park sitting on blankets and lawn chairs to listen to some local blues.
