Piano Duo to perform Sunday

Piano duo Emile Naoumoff and Yau Cheng will perform at Auer Concert Hall in a free event as part of the Jacobs School of Music Summer Series and the IU Summer Festival of the Arts. The show will start at 8 p.m on July 6.

Summer Philharmonic gives tradition a twist

Mixing classical pieces with a variety of performances, such as show tunes and tap-dancing, the Summer Philharmonic Orchestra delivered a one-of-a-kind performance Saturday at the Musical Arts Center.

Lecture concert to showcase Cuban music

“De la contradanza al son: The Predecessors of Latin Dance Music,” a concert celebrating Cuba’s musical history, will be held at 7 p.m. tonight at the Ivy Tech John Waldron Performing Arts Center.

Herlinger commences music lecture series

Monday evening, IU’s Lilly Library came alive with the sounds of Gregorian chants and the words of Jan Herlinger. The library was host to Herlinger, a visiting lecturer who teaches music at Louisiana State University, as the inaugural installation of the lecture series “Musica est ars sive scientia.”

Audience members were able to attend a reception following the ceremony and receive tours of the 85,000-square-foot building located on the northeast corner of Third Street and Jordan Avenue.
