A conversation about men

·

In an age when women are equal to men and men are embracing their femininity, stereotypes about dressing well still persist. Though both men and women were glued to the television to watch the final episodes of "Project Runway," men still battle stereotypes when people learn they are closet shopaholics. My ex-neighbor Johnny is one such man -- fully equipped with more clothes than me and proud of it.

Sometimes, IU junior Sidney Bolam likes living in the past. She lives in the past all across the Midwest and the North East. Her camp grounds include October's Feast of the Hunters Moon in Lafayette and Niagara Lake, N.Y., in July. Bolam is a historical re-enactor. The past is what she does.

Swander shatters records in qualifications

·

There is nothing better than swimming in front of a home crowd. You've got nothing to lose, and the support of the attendees in the crowd can get your adrenaline pumping hard. This formula can not only make an athlete more determined to win, but push him to swim faster. If you don't believe it, just ask Kevin Swander.

Coming off a weekend when the Hoosier baseball team lost three of four games, they rebounded Wednesday with a 6-4 victory against in-state rival Indiana State. IU coach Bob Morgan decided to change the lineup defensively for Wednesday's game and said it was a change the Hoosiers have had readily available for most of the season. UNC: the real team of destiny

·

It wasn't supposed to end this way for the Illini. They had it all. The team-first assist-oriented offense that beat 37 teams, pesky defense, kids with hearts as large as the state they represented, and a coach and fan-base that believed in them. It was all there.

Garden could offer organic food to Collins

·

When students go to college, they typically relinquish having any kind of food that resembles home cooking -- let alone grown in their backyard. But a group at IU is trying to change that by adding a garden near the Collins Living-Learning Center so the organic food that is grown there can be used in the Collins food court.

Group helps student veterans adjust

·

When IU alumnus Jeff Memmer came home from the Navy in early 2002 and began attending classes at IU, he realized something was missing from the campus. The item on his list that wasn't to be found was a true place for people who were in the military to get together so they could find out what kind of benefits they had. More simply, he couldn't find a place for all veterans to get together so they could talk.

John Paul II, freedom fighter

·

KRAKOW, Poland -- A low, dull sound has rolled over this somber city every morning this week. From the heights of Krakow's iconic Wawel Castle, the Zygmunt Bell rings. At almost 500 years old and weighing nearly 11 metric tons, it tolls only during the most significant events in Polish history.
