Alumni named 2013 Indiana Authors Award winners

The annual Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana Authors Award works to recognize Indiana authors’ contributions to literature in both Indiana and across the nation. Four IU alumni have been selected as winners or finalists for the 2013 Indiana Authors Award, according to a press release.

Court ruling threatens silence

Amid the recent onslaught of Supreme Court decisions, one case was buried deep. The June 17, 5-4 ruling of Salinas v. Texas concerns a 20-year-old case in which Genovevo Salinas was asked informal questions by police regarding the murder of two brothers in Houston.

Driver charged for SR 37, Vernal Pike crash Sunday

Police did not find signs McGee was intoxicated at the time of the crash, but have since issued citations for disregarding an automatic signal, driving too fast to avoid a collision as well as following too close in a tractor-trailer rig.

A woman was arrested Monday night, July 14, for battery with a deadly weapon when she cut her boyfriend’s hand after an argument, Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Joe Crider said.

3 vehicle accident causes major injuries and closed road

The Bloomington Police Department investigated a major traffic accident at the intersections of Vernal Pike and State Road 37 involving three cars on July 14 at approximately 9:20p.m., a press release from Capt. Joe Qualters said.
