A domestic argument turned violent early Monday morning and resulted in arrests on three preliminary felony charges for a 27-year old man, Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Joe Crider said.

Woman found deceased Friday evening

A white 55-year-old female was found deceased on an apartment bedroom floor and a male was arrested Friday evening, BPD said.


Male shoots himself upon police arrival at apartment

Police responded to a call to check on the welfare of a resident late Friday night on the first floor of an apartment building on the 1800 Block of South Walnut Street, Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Lucas Tate said.



Arrests made in Motel 6 robbery

Police have arrested two people in the case of a robbery and strangulation that occurred Wednesday afternoon at a Motel 6 on North Walnut Street, Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Joe Crider said.


Former auditor charged with 7 felonies

Former Monroe County Auditor Amy Gerstman was charged Monday with six counts of theft and one count of official misconduct for allegedly making personal purchases with a county-issued credit card.


January rape reported to BPD

On May 9, a 19-year-old female reported being sexually assaulted in January 2013 at her south side residence, the Bloomington Police Department said.


Car accident leads to marijuana bust

After responding to the scene of a single-car crash, officers found over 30 grams of marijuana in the driver’s backpack, BPD Sgt. Dana Cole said.



Man reportedly stabbed by 70-year-old after altercation

Police responded around 1:50 a.m. Friday to a call from a 29-year-old man who reported being stabbed by a 70-year-old man he knew on the 600 block of East Sherwood Hills Drive, according to the Bloomington Police Department.


Fire call leads to meth lab discovery

Smoke coming from an apartment bathroom on West Second Street led officers to discover an active meth lab, BPD Sgt. Dana Cole said.

On May 9, a 19-year-old female reported being sexually assaulted in January 2013 at her southside residence.


Woman reports 2011 sexual assault

A 19-year-old female reported on May 9 that she had been sexually assaulted at her West side residence in early April 2011.


Woman reports being shoved out of car, nearly run over

Police responded to a disturbance on the 700 block of West Dixie St. around 4 p.m. Sunday where Marcus McCulley, 47, reportedly pushed a 32-year-old female victim out of a white Chevrolet Impala and attempted to run her over.



Local vehicle theft leads to crash

A 20-year-old man was transported to IU Health Tuesday evening after crashing his grandparents’ vehicle into a guardrail, Bloomington Police Sgt. Joseph Crider said.
