IU to observe Labor Day in 2008

Students will have Labor Day off in 2008, after the Bloomington Faculty Council voted Tuesday to pass a resolution to make it an official school holiday. In 2008, Labor Day is scheduled as the first day of classes for the fall semester for the current academic calendar for IU-Bloomington.

In college, a lot of learning happens outside the classroom. In fact, much of it happens at the local watering holes. All you have to do is listen. And if you listen carefully inside, outside or even 50 feet away from any bar, you’re only going to hear one thing – the same songs you heard last weekend and the weekend before. But they have a lot to teach us.

Iranian seizure of 15 British sailors, marines prompts questions

THE FACTS: The world’s nations are already tense thinking about Iran’s possible ambitions to make a nuclear weapon. But now 15 British navy sailors and marines have been seized by Iran on March 23, allegedly for trespassing in Iranian waters – a claim Britain denies. In addition, a retired FBI agent in Iran on private business has not been heard from since March 8. Should these incidents lead to war with Iran?

Passover is a time for Jewish families to celebrate together, but in the absence of that environment many college students turn to IU’s Jewish community and the on-campus events it offers.

IUSTV offers video podcasts of shows

IUSTV, which began producing in 2002 and now has about 200 members and 10 TV programs, started releasing video podcasts in early March to increase viewership and extend its broadcasts outside the Bloomington area.
