IU Basketball

Column: Hoosier Valentine

·

It’s not easy to tell somebody how you feel about them. Love, lust or aggravation — sometimes the right gift can communicate everything you want to say. On the brink of IU’s most successful regular season record in four years, I thought it fitting to give a few Hoosiers Valentine’s presents.

Column: Fine at the line

·

I’m hesitant to write a column on the Ben Stein of college basketball plays, but consistency at the charity stripe has been one of the keys to IU victories all season. Thursday was no exception.

Men's Basketball vs. Illinois

Zeller wins battle in the post

·

The matchup of Illinois sophomore center Meyers Leonard and Indiana freshman forward Cody Zeller lived up to the billing as the two ran the floor, finished at the rim and led their teams in scoring.

Live Chat: Illinois at No. 23 IU

After the Hoosiers upset them at Assembly Hall last season, the Illini return to Bloomington tonight as underdogs. Follow along and join in the conversation with the IDS basketball reporters here.

Column: Scouting the Illini

·

William Buford, Trey Burke, Tim Frazier, Bo Spencer, Jordan Taylor and now Brandon Paul. The Hoosiers will continue to face the Big Ten’s best point guards Thursday as they take on Illinois, one of the most puzzling teams in the Big Ten.

Column: Guarding the future

·

The Crimson Guard could see changes next year. Although the group has been an official student organization since its inception, this is the first year it is a branch of the Student Athletic Board.

IU vs. Purdue

Abell’s aim sinks Purdue

·

Purdue forward Robbie Hummel said the Boilermakers scouting report would allow Remy Abell to shoot the 3-pointer. The IU freshman guard who averaged 3.2 points per game had never played in Mackey Arena. He had only hit five 3-pointers in his entire IU career. He hadn’t even attempted a 3-pointer in the game.

Turning the page on IU basketball

·

The Hoosiers’ 78-61 victory at Purdue on Saturday was a reminder this team is the first sign of water after wandering in the desert for what seemed like 40 years.

Women's Basketball v. Iowa

Hoosiers lose to Iowa at Assembly Hall

·

After staying toe-to-toe with the Iowa Hawkeyes (14-10, 6-5), the Indiana women’s basketball team (5-19, 0-11) again fell short in its conference matchup, losing 83-64 Sunday afternoon in Assembly Hall.

Hoosiers beat Boilermakers for impressive road win

·

Could IU make the necessary stops it needed to finish off a Big Ten road win? That question, which has remained unanswered for the better part of the past four seasons, found an answer Saturday night in West Lafayette.

Halftime wrap: IU 33 Purdue 22

·

In one of the worst shooting halves of the year for IU and Purdue, the Hoosiers have a 33-22 lead at halftime thanks to a 13-0 run midway through the first half.

Bball vs Penn State

Hoosiers fall to Nittany Lions, continue losing streak

·

The Hoosiers (5-18, 0-10 Big Ten) lost at Penn State (17-5, 7-3) Thursday at the Bryce Jordan Center 76-44 to bring their losing skid to 10 games, which serves as the longest of IU coach Felisha Legette-Jack’s tenure in Bloomington.
