Some of the churches that participate in hosting Interfaith Winter Shelter offer food to residents. Volunteers with First Christian Church use donated or church-bought food to cook a dinner in the evening when residents arrive and breakfast in the morning before the shelter closes.

Interfaith Winter Shelter volunteers organized a food and donation drive Thursday in Dunn Meadow days before the shelter will close for the summer. The shelter opened five years ago as an emergency shelter for local people without a place to sleep during the winter months.

Angela Riley has been without a home for more than four years and is actively pursuing getting out of the cycle of homelessness. She recently obtained a GED and is enrolled to start classes at Ivy Tech where she will study Social Work.

INPIRG student volunteers regroup after running a mock wedding photo petition outside Alumni Hall Wednesday afternoon. Students from INPIRG, an independent student organization, started the petition to "mock the idea that corporations are people," said Gough. "It is based around the supreme court decision, Citizen's United, that allowed corporations to give unlimited financial contributions in political elections."
