My sister's and my new favorite gimmick is talking about what millennials are ruining today. Sometimes, it’s something stupid like how we ruined the corkscrew because as a whole we are opting for more “alternative closures.” We also managed to ruin casual dining by not spending our money at restaurants like Applebee's and T.G.I. Fridays.

After every Islamic extremist attack, people randomly call me a terrorist because of the color of my skin. And I have it pretty easy. My Muslim friends have to fear for their lives. That’s why I feel such anger when I read accounts from people who joined the white supremacist protests at University of Virginia that try to separate the protesters from the very movement that they were marching with.

As I watched director Jordan Peele’s “Get Out,” America’s highest-grossing film by a black director, I noticed a scene in which an Asian man takes part in an auction for the protagonist’s life.

When Harry Styles released his latest song, I was over the moon. When I figured out how to do the perfect cat eye, I was thrilled. This level of happiness was only equal to how I felt when the “Heartbeat Bill” failed in Ohio and when my allergy initiative was accepted by an IU
nutritionist.

The truest words I’ve ever heard about the American health care system came from a doctor who had been practicing for more than 20 years. He said the way that health care is practiced in this country is cruel. He talked about situations where people came in after a catastrophic event and found out they had a prior disease and had to declare bankruptcy in order to pay for their
increasing costs.

I’ve recently developed a new habit. Every single time I go on social media and see a political post, anything that mentions the names Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders, or watch television and see a political piece for the second time, I roll my eyes and close the application.

I haven’t had a meal plan since freshman year. That’s for two reasons: the exorbitant price and the lack of options for people with alternate diets. As a vegetarian with fairly serious food allergies, when I ate in the dining halls it was a system of daily repetition. I would eat the same thing every day. My choices were a veggie burger, one sandwich, one of the pizzas, etc.

Ben Franklin told us the only two things we can’t avoid are death and taxes. While we all complain about taxes, a good majority of us understand taxes have a
