In Peoples Park, dozens of people sat on broken tables, concrete ground and along the brick wall. Some people chatted, and some smoked. Not everyone who spends time in the park is homeless, but the nervous stares from the sidewalk don’t

Hunsinger said freshmen girls are often naive, immature and too trustful, making them easier to take advantage of. Gugliotta said she would always stay on her phone when she walked back home after parties during her freshmen year. This made her feel safe.

The quiet before the storm-on a game from the 2016 World Series coincided with Indiana University's Homecoming weekend, with many students opting for one or the other-in this case, most of the action was downstairs at Kilroy's Sports Bar, before the crowd starts drifting upstairs.

While drinking less may help issues that happen when student go out to drink, that won't solve everything. Without a better understanding of themselves and people around them, miscommunication will continue to play a role in consent and sexual assault, where the accused truly may not have meant harm. Interactions that make party scene are't straightforward, nor are they black and white.

Despite Indiana University's efforts to curb the culture of strong drinking, certain occasions call for copious amounts of alcohol and celebration. Such as here, during Homecoming, where alumni come back and party along with current students, almost reliving their glory days as most people don't continue to drink and party as hard once they graduate college.

On Sunday evening, patrons at the Player’s Pub swayed and tapped their feet to the beat of classic Christmas songs as they enjoyed their food and drinks. The 17-piece Swing Time Big Band, an affiliate of the Bloomington Community Band, made its debut at the venue. It featured vocalist Kathleen McCalahan and played various big band jazz arrangements of holiday tunes.
