Hop Along; Rachael's Cafe

Thursday

In indie-pop musical tradition Hop Along's delightful beat is minimal and excellent for the casual foot-banger. But the most attractive component of these Philly natives is the breathy, cracking, and sometimes screeching vocals of lead singer Frances Quinlan, who performs alongside her brother Mark and schoolboy chum Tyler Long. Sometimes pensive and doleful, at other times bellicose and frantic, their riffs and melodies are always eerily pretty, and the lyrics pensive, almost poetic. Hop Along's first track album "Get Disowned" has been available since May, but they only play Bloomington once in a blue moon. Catch a rare show tomorrow!
