The medium-sized burg of Denton, Texas has somewhat bizarrely become a minor Mecca for dirty indie rock in the past decade or so. Maybe we can blame John Darnielle for penning the classic Mountain Goats anthem "The Best Ever Death Metal Band Out of Denton," but whatever the reason, if it keeps leading to bands as awesome as Mind Spiders, we probably shouldn't complain. The two-drummer act shares members with fellow Dentonites Marked Men and Bad Sports, and their debut LP Meltdown is out now on Dirtnap Records. They'll bring a whole lot of Blood Visions era Jay Reatard-worshiping noise to Landlocked for a free in-store performance on Monday. Check out the ripping "Wait for Us" over at the A.V. Club.
