It seems like every time I take a breath, Dead Oceans is adding another great band to their label.
Meet: The Luyas, a space-age experimental pop band hailing from Montreal. Their songs are simultaneously haunting and quietly beautiful.
They are currently working on their forthcoming first album with Dead Oceans, which is to be released in early 2011. For the album, they have teamed up with friend and colleague Owen Pallett (the artist formerly known as Final Fantasy) who is lending his arranging skills and violin playing to a number of tracks.
Besides coming out with a promising first album, their lives shows will surely not disappoint. At one performance in Brooklyn, they led 50 blindfolded fans to a secret location (hosted in a bedroom) and pulled off a performance with a wild lightshow.
