Live Buzzer Deanna K. writes about her Girl Talk experience in Cincinnati:
If you haven't heard already, Girl Talk (aka Gregg Gillis, aka my future husband) is going to be at Jake's in January.
But before seeing him here in Btown, I had the chance to see him Sunday night in Cincinnati (for the first time ever).
So if I wasn't already totally excited to see him in town, I think I'm now about to the point of literally counting down the days til he's here (it's 67, in case anyone was wondering). I keep the ticket in my wallet and look at it on days when I'm feeling down. I think of it as a good omen.
I think the sheer craziness of his set is what I'm looking most forward to in January (plus the fact that when he's here, I won't have to drive two and a half hours home. Hello, alcohol.)
Between the crazy drunk bitches dancing in skin tight shiny spandex on stage, the toilet paper streamers and watching Gregg crouch over his laptop on top of the table, just watching what was going on was enough to keep me entertained. Oh, of course, crazy dancing ensued for me, too (impossible for that not to happen). I was drenched all the way through with sweat by the time the show was over. Ah-mazing.
My only hope is that there are better opening acts when he comes here. Krak Attack and The Death Set were just...awful. Like, gritting my teeth and hating my life for the first hour and a half I was there awful. But the last half of the night definitely, definitely made up for it.
So in closing, coming from a Girl Talk first-timer, if you haven't gotten your tickets for January yet, get them now. Kthnxbye :)
