The IU football team released its depth chart for the week of the Indiana State game, which will be played at Memorial Stadium next Thursday at 7 p.m.

IU Coach Kevin Wilson said that the team is "pretty healthy" except for injuries to weak-side linebacker Chase Hoobler, who was listed as the starter at weak-side linebacker until he suffered a stress fracture, and starting right guard Dan Feeney, who will likely be sidelined until January or February of 2014 with a lisfranc injury.

He said that he anticipates that 90 percent of the players listed on the depth chart will play in IU's first few games.

A starter has been named at every position except for quarterback, right guard and strong-side linebacker.

Wilson had previously said that the starting quarterback could have potentially been announced as early as Friday but the three-player competition will continue into next week. Wilson said that the decision could be made as late as Tuesday or Wednesday.

Redshirt sophomore David Kaminski and redshirt freshman Jacob Bailey are listed in the depth chart as the two options at right guard to replace Feeney.

Fifth-year senior Griffen Dahlstrom and junior Forisse "Flo" Hardin are battling for the starting strong linebacker position.

Eight true freshmen are listed on the depth chart but all of them are listed as a second or third option at their respective positions.

Sophomore Tevin Coleman claimed the starting spot at running back over fifth-year senior Stephen Houston. Wilson said that he expects both running backs to get roughly the same amount of carries and he said that Coleman might have been "a hair better."

"It's just a very healthy, competitive situation," he said. "I don't think there's great separation but I think Tevin has been a little more hungry, a little harder but...it's not a slight of Stephen Houston at all. He's an extremely good player and the other guy (Coleman) has got a chance to be a really good player as well and right now [has] consistently probably been better."

Wilson said that IU will spread out its offense this season but there will also be more multiple personnel formations.

"We do have a little bit more depth at tight end, backs and we're getting a little bit better fullback play so you might see more personnel groupings," he said.

Wilson said that IU's depth will also be apparent because offensive and defensive starters will play on special teams, which he said could be a sign of IU being a better team.

"You'll see enough second team guys playing on offense and defense that you'll see Cody Latimer covering kicks or you'll see 'Flo' Hardin on kickoff returns," he said. "You'll see starters on special teams because they're not playing 80 plays of offense. They're playing 30, 40, 50 plays because they're getting complemented"
