While my feature story about the 2013 IU baseball season -- scheduled to run tomorrow -- covered IU's increased pitching depth, I asked sophomore catcher Kyle Schwarber what he thought about the way the Hoosiers' 2012 season ended.

Though Schwarber won Most Valuable Player honors at the Cape Cod League, he anticipates another matchup with Purdue.

"It was more kind of goal-oriented for me because the way it ended, the way personally, I made a mistake in the game," he said. "It was kind of unforgettable. I just wanted to get our team back to that spot. I've worked my butt off.

"Being out at the Cape helped me a lot with my offensive approach and with my outfielding. Getting back here, catching a bunch, I'm just really trying to get forward to that spot, to where we need to be and put ourselves in that position to win a Big Ten Championship.

"And hopefully we can get back to facing Purdue in the championship game and showing them what we're really about."
