Indiana University junior diver Darian Schmidt was named to the U.S. squad for the 2013 Canada Cup, USA Diving announced on Friday.

As one of 10 divers named to the team, Schmidt will compete on the 3-meter springboard in Gatineau, Quebec during May 2-5 at the event.

During Schmidt's sophomore season in 2011-2012, he won the Big Ten title on the 3-meter springboard and finished seventh while earning 12th on the 1-meter and 16th on the platform at the 2012 NCAA Championships.

With a score of 460.20 and a first-place finish in a home meet against Ohio State and Iowa, Schmidt set a new IU dual meet record on the 3-meter springboard.

The Hoosiers, including Schmidt, will travel to in-state rival Purdue to finish up the 2012-13 dual meet season. The 2013 Big Ten Men's Swimming and Diving Championships will be held at the Councilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center in Bloomington Feb. 27-March 2.
