In Saturday's 7-3 loss to the University of Illinois Fighting Illini, freshman first baseman Sam Travis did not reach base for the first time in his IU career - his 31st game.
His 17-game hitting streak was also snapped.
"I didn't really think about it that much," he said. "I'm trying to just let it go. It's not really that much of a big deal to me. I'd have much rather have won the series. I'm more of a team guy. I'm not really an individual guy."
The Hoosiers dropped Sunday's contest 11-6. Travis collected two hits in the game.
It's quite impressive to me that Travis was able to reach base in all 30 games he'd played up until Saturday. But I believe that it's time for us media types to not mention his streaks for awhile. (Well, after Dustin Dopirak writes his feature. Then it's time to let it go.)
Meanwhile, if you are a Hoosier baseball fan, this tweet by Kyle Kuhlman should sum up your attitude immaculately.
