In this video, IU third baseman/first baseman Sam Travis talks about adjusting to curve balls during the Hoosiers' first home game of the season against Eastern Kentucky University. After EKU attacked Travis with all curve balls in his first at-bat, Travis said he was ready for the off-speed pitches in his second at-bat and roped a two-home run to left field in a game the Hoosiers would win 11-5.

Monday, Travis was named Big Ten Player of the Week after leading the Hoosiers to a 4-1 week that included a road series victory over Penn State to start the Big Ten season. Travis's selection completes the "reward cycle" for the Hoosiers (Chris Sujka and Kyle Schwarber both won Freshman of the Week honors earlier in the season and Joey DeNato was selected as the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week after IU's spring break trip).

On the week, Travis hit .579 with a homer, two doubles, six RBI and a slugging percentage of .842. Currently, Travis leads the team in hits (34), doubles (10), walks (17) and On-base percentage (.495).
