The Big Ten Conference recognized Hoosiers freshman 3B/1B Sam Travis as their Player of the Week today.

Travis has an 11-game hitting streak, and he has reached base at least once in each of the 24 games he has played.

He began his career at IU playing the hot corner for 13 games. He then spent one game as the designated hitter. During the Hoosiers' last 10 games, he's started at first base to allow sophomore Dustin DeMuth to move back to third base.

Travis leads the team in batting average, hits, doubles, walks drawn and on-base percentage.

He trails teammate Chris Sujka in slugging percentage by .001, as Travis has posted a .540 clip.

Junior center fielder Justin Cureton, freshman catcher Kyle Schwarber and Travis have started all 24 games for the Hoosiers.

He also shares the Big Ten's Freshman of the Week honor with Northwestern's Brandon Magallones.
