A couple takeaway points from IU's 96-66 victory over Stony Brook:

-After a slow start for Cody Zeller, in which the freshman center scored 4 points and had 2 rebounds after the first half, Zeller exploded in the second half. Zeller chipped in another 12 points and 8 rebounds in the second to finish with a double-double in his IU debut.

-The sophomores were fantastic. Sheehey, who exited after the first half with flu-like symptoms, has 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting, while Oladipo added 16 points of his own. Look for this prolific duo to add depth to this lineup as the season progresses.

-Improved defense. IU's perimeter defense looked shaky to begin the game, but buckled down and limited Stony Brook to shooting 41.9 percent from the field and 5-of-20 from three-point land. Stony Brook guard Bryan Dougher, who was a focus of IU coach Tom Crean's pregame press conference, scored just three points on a 1-for-8 shooting night.

-Distributed scoring effort. Four Hoosiers scored in double figures tonight and none of them were named Verdell Jones, Jordan Hulls or Christian Watford. Knowing that other players will be able to share the scoring load will help tremendously down the road when one scorer may be having an off night.
