IU sophomore guard Victor Oladipo earned Big Ten Player of the Week honors while freshman Cody Zeller earned co-Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors.

For Oladipo, the award comes a day after posting a career-high 21 points to lead IU to a 78-53 win against Chattanooga last night. Oladipo became the first IU player to win the honor since former Hoosier All-American and current NBA forward D.J. White did it on Feb. 4, 2008.

Oladipo's average of 18.5 points in the first two games leads all IU scorers. In addition to fueling the IU offense, Oladipo has also provided the Hoosiers with a defensive boost.

The sophomore guard shut down Stony Brook's Bryan Dougher on Friday night, who came in as their leading returning scorer and all-time 3-point leader. Last night, Oladipo put the clamps on former Georgetown product Omar Wattad, who struggled offensively after six quick points.

Zeller earned the award after a weekend in which he already set a freshman record. Against Chattanooga last night, Zeller became the first freshman in IU history to record six steals in a game.

Through two games this season, Zeller is averaging 11.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.5 steals and 1.5 blocks per game and is shooting 77.8 percent from the floor.

Zeller shared the award with Iowa forward Aaron White, who scored 19 points and brought down 10 rebounds in the Hawkeyes opening win against Chicago State on Friday.
