On the eve of the team's regular season finale against Ohio State Saturday, sophomore midfielder Harrison Petts received accolades off the field Friday, being named to the Capital One Academic All-District team, announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
In order to qualify to be nominated for the award, student-athletes must have at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA, have been at their school for at least one year and be a sophomore in athletic eligibility and played in at least 50 percent of their team's games.
Petts has started in all 17 of the Hoosiers' games this season and has recorded six assists for iU, tied for the lead on the team and tied for second in the Big Ten.
Petts will now move onto the national ballot for Academic All-American consideration, and those results will be announced Dec. 1.
