The men's soccer team began the season with pre-season accolades and they have continued that trend in the first two weeks of the season.

Prior to the season IU seniors Chris Estridge, Tommy Meyer and Alec Purdie were named to the Big Ten Players to Watch List along with the team being picked to win the conference for the eighth time in nine years by the Big Ten coaches.

The trend continued when goalie Luis Soffner was named the conference's Defensive Player of the Week following his double overtime shut out of Notre Dame in the season opener in South Bend.

The offense was nonexistent in the opener at Notre Dame, but games two and three brought a nine goal offensive explosion led by freshman Eriq Zavaleta, who had two goals and two assists over the weekend against Saint Louis and Dayton. On Monday Zavaleta was named the Big Ten co-Offensive Player of the Week, sharing the award with Ohio State's Parnell Hegngi.

Two weeks into the season the Hoosiers may not have an identity but they may just have found a new offensive threat.
