IU seniors Chris Estridge, Tommy Meyer and Alec Purdie were named to the preseason Big Ten Players to watch list by the Big Ten coaches.

The Hoosiers enter the season ranked No. 17 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and were also picked to win the Big Ten for the eighth time in the last nine years.

As one of the senior leaders for the Hoosiers being named the list is an added bonus for Estridge.

"It's a big honor, I am just working hard and trying to do what is best for the team and individual honors is just a little bit of a bonus," Estridge said .

Estridge thinks it is important for the team to stay focused all the way through the season to prevent how last season ended after being selected to win the Big Ten.

"I think we did deserve it last year but we fell apart in the tournament and I think that and the Big Ten tournament would be really nice for us and carry it through to the NCAA Tournament," Estridge said.

The Hoosiers will open the season Saturday night at 7:30 pm in South Bend against No. 12 Notre Dame.
