Facing some of the nation's toughest teams for the second consecutive weekend the IU baseball team won two of three games in Corpus Christi, Texas.

On Friday evening, IU beat the host Texas A&M Corpus Christi 14-3 behind 15 hits. Six of the IU starters had multi-hit game and freshman Ty Downing hit the first Hoosier home run of the 2011 season in the 8th inning. After junior pitcher Drew Leininger was pulled in the third inning, four Hoosier pitchers combined for seven score less innings of two hit baseball.

The Hoosiers knocked off their second ranked team of the season on Saturday when they defeated No. 14 Connecticut 3-1. Junior Blake Monar allowed only one run for the second consecutive start and junior Chad Martin pitched 3.1 innings in relief and got the save. Monar out dueled highly touted pitching prospect Matt Barnes of UConn and got some help from junior Alex Dickerson. The Poway, Calif. native hit a three-run home run off Barnes and that proved to be the difference for IU.

In position to go undefeated for the weekend, the Hoosiers were unable to hold a one run eighth inning and lost to Oregon St. 7-5 on Sunday. Dickerson's 22-game hitting streak came to and end with both him and senior Jerrud Sabourin going hit less against the Beavers. With IU nursing a 5-4 lead in the eighth inning, the Hoosiers bullpen let in three runs on two hits while using five different pitchers during the decisive inning.
