After Friday's 2-1 win over Miami of Ohio, Coach Amy Robertson told me after the game vs. Missouri State that she was thinking of her team capturing a Big Ten Championship.

Allow me to elaborate.

The Hoosiers' winning a Big Ten Championship is a very tangible possibility; IU came a mere goal shy of capturing a championship in last year's Big Ten Championship, falling 3-2 to the Spartans of Michigan State.

"We've got goal scorers," Robertson said.

No argument. They have the talent, too, at every other position, to make a deep run into November.

(FYI: I'll talk to some players after practice on Wednesday to garner their reaction to their coach's thoughts on this subject. Be sure to pick up a copy of Thursday's IDS for that information.)

Their game Friday, September 24 against Penn State in State College, PA - the Big Ten opener - will prove to be the measuring stick to determine the plausibility of Robertson's Big Ten Championship aspirations.

From this reporter's perspective: IF they play like they did in the first half against the Bears of Missouri State, there's no doubt in my mind they could defeat any team in the country.
