Waking up the last two mornings realizing that the World Cup was over was not the easiest thing to take.

Sure, it would have been a different feeling had the U.S.A. been the team that lost in the World Cup Final, but it is still a sad moment.

It was a wonderful month, filled with top notch soccer every day for two weeks, and every few days from then on.

The stakes were high, and the hosts did an excellent job. The South African spirit pervaded the cup, and it is great to see a country that is rising out of such turmoil put on a great show.

While people will say the soccer wasnt always good, there were plenty of memorable games.

The U.S.A games against Slovenia and Algeria were two of the most exciting in the tournament, as well as Germany's wins over England and Argentina. And of course who can forget the first game of the World Cup, South Africa vs. Mexico, where Bafana Bafana midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala scored a fantastic goal, and the South Africans nearly won the game.

For all those who said that after the first round of matches there werent be many goals, they were proved wrong. There were 145 goals in this World Cup, just two less than the 2006 edition.

And while it took some time for the players to get used to the Jabulani ball, you cant say that Carlos Tevez, Giovanni Van Bronckhorst, and Diego Forlan didnt score some of the best goals in World Cup history.

Hopefully, 2014 in Brazil will be even more exciting and dramatic, down to the final minutes of extra time.

And to South Africa, thank you and the World will come back and visit soon.
