Demetri McCamey: Illinois
The former backcourt mate of Turner's at St. Joseph's High School in Illinois, junior point guard Demetri McCamey has made a name for himself this season.
He has hit big shots for the Illini, most notably with tenths of a second left for 72-70 win against IU on Jan. 30.
His team is sliding into the Big Ten tournament, having loss five of its last six.
Its inability to win games has coincided with the play of McCamey, who is just more than 12 points per game in his team's recent three-game losing streak.
But Illinois coach Bruce Weber has challenged McCamey to be more than a scorer and lead his team.
McCamey is one of the country's leading assist men at almost seven per game. If Illinois is to perform well, he'll be a facilitator and leader first, scorer second.
