The IU football team signed 25 players today for its 2010 recruiting class.

While the 25 players is the one of the larger 2010 recruiting classes for the Big Ten, the Hoosiers were one of three schools in the Big Ten to not land a four-star recruit, according to Rivals.com, and the Hoosiers were ranked last in the conference for their signing class.

IU also signed just 11 3-star players (according to the Rivals' rankings), third fewest in the conference, beating only Ohio State and Penn State in 3-star commitments - both of those schools landed several 4-star recruits.

Prominent players on the Hoosiers' signing class include Illinois running back Matt Perez, the Chicago Sun-Times 2009 Illinois Player of the Year. Perez led his team to two undefeated seasons en route to Illinois 8A state titles. Kofi Hughes, a QB/athlete from Indianapolis Cathedral, was named the 2009 Gatorade Indiana Football Player of the Year.

Four players - CB Lenyatta Kiles, LB Jeff Thomas, RB Antonio Banks, and LB Jack Denton enrolled at IU for the spring semester and will participate in spring practice.

IU coach Bill Lynch addressed the media earlier in the afternoon concerning the recruiting class. I will update this post further following a Signing Day reception later this afternoon. Currently, we're trying to contact some members of the signing class.
