Sophomore guard Verdell Jones played Saturday and scored 11 points.
You've all heard about the doubt as to whether he'd play beforehand.
The guard had been on IVs in the morning and night before the game to make sure he'd have enough fluid in him to play and exert as much energy as he needed to on the court.
"Verdell Jones had another good practice," Crean said. "He's lost a lot of weight -- not that he could afford it. But he's lost some weight, so hopefully we can get that back on. I know he hadn't had solid food until last night."
And everyone's favorite 3-pointer shooter seemed to be missed in Madison this weekend.
Devan Dumes is one player we all know has fight in him. He doesn't lack confidence, either.
But he, too, is working through an illness linked to the flu. He missed the Saturday game because of the illness, and Crean said he still isn't fairing too well.
"Devan Dumes was back today practicing -- but sparingly," Crean said. "I don't think he feels that good, so we just have to wait and see how that goes"
