Postgame:
The Hoosiers pulled away and led by double digits most of the second half and won 72-61. IU improves to 4-2 on the year with the win.
Jamie Braun led the way with 24 points, making five of seven three pointers, while Jori Davis added 21. Despite the win, rebounding continued to be a glaring problem as the Hoosiers were beaten 49-30 on the boards.
However a lot of positives came out of this game as well. The strengths for the Hoosiers were the fact that they committed just 10 turnovers, stole the ball from the 49ers 12 times and shot 52.4% from the floor in the second half.
IU returns to action Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. when they take on no. 12/9 Florida State in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. Join us on the Hoosier Hype Blog during the game for our final live chat of the first semester.
Halftime:
In a back and forth first half the Hoosiers head to the locker room with a 29-26 lead. Jamie Braun has had a hot hand nailing four straight three's to put IU up by seven at one point. However, after building a 23-16 advantage, Charlotte fought back and outplayed the Hoosiers for the rest of the half.
Some other things to note is that the Hoosiers are playing in a high school like gym that appears to have no air conditioning and less than 100 people in it. Also those wishing to watch the game can do so at iuhoosiers.com through a live steam. Just click on the "live cast" link on the women's schedule page and you will be directed to a home video of the game. Just a warning though that the broadcast is relatively blurry.
Pregame:
We are about a half hour away from the second of two games for the Hoosiers in the Bahamas.
The challenge today in the consolation game of the Junkanoo Jam is considerably easier on paper for IU as they take on the 1-4 Charlotte 49ers. Yesterday the Hoosiers fell to 3-2 with a loss to the no.15/18 Virginia Cavaliers. In the loss, junior captain and guard Jori Davis scored 33 points but the Hoosiers were unable to completely overcome a 16 point halftime deficit and fell 84-79.
