The IU volleyball team plays its final match of the season at 8 p.m. today against Iowa.

A preview of the season finale as the Hoosiers (16-17, 5-14) aim for a second straight sweep of the Hawkeyes (13-18, 5-14):

When they last met

IU swept Iowa in the schools' first meeting Oct. 16, winning by scores of 25-23, 25-14 and 25-18. The match was played in Assembly Hall as part of the annual Hoosier Hysteria festivities.

Where they stand now

Both teams reside at the bottom of the Big Ten with 5-14 records. Both are also coming off five-set victories Friday. IU beat Wisconsin in Madison, and Iowa bested Purdue at home.

Keys to the match

The match is in all likelihood the final contest of the season for both teams. Both the Hoosiers and Hawkeyes look to end 2009 on a high note with a victory.

IU needs to be aggressive in hitting while eliminating errors. The Hoosiers also would benefit from a continuation of their hot serving. They recorded seven aces in last night's bout with Wisconsin and posted eight in the last meeting with Iowa.

The Hawkeyes must slow IU junior middle blocker Ashley Benson and freshman outside hitter Jordan Haverly, two of the conference's best offensive players all season. Iowa must match IU point-for-point to score a second straight win.
