The IU volleyball team lost to Wisconsin in five sets Sunday.
The Badgers (9-8, 4-3) bested the Hoosiers (14-8, 3-5) in the end, winning by scores of 25-20, 15-25, 25-22, 17-25 and 15-11.
Wisconsin freshman hitter Kirby Toon powered the Badgers throughout the match, posting 12 kills, three service aces and three total blocks.
Errors wrote the story of the contest on either side of the net. IU committed 23 attack errors, 11 service errors and three block errors. Wisconsin recorded 30, two and two of each.
The two teams traded off momentum each set as the Badgers took the first and third frames and the Hoosiers claimed the second and fourth decisively.
The final set stayed close through a 9-9 score. Wisconsin then went on a tear of three consecutive points, opening a wide enough gap to seal the victory.
The Hoosiers hit the road next weekend for two Big Ten matches. They battle No. 1 Penn State (20-0, 8-0) at 8 p.m. Friday. That match will be broadcast live on ESPNU. They turn right around the next day for a 7 p.m. matchup with Ohio State (15-6, 3-5).
